Camping on Lopez Island
Lopez Island is home to one private campground and two state parks that allow overnight camping. The state parks have over 160 acres to explore on the hiking trails. Lopez Farm Cottages and Tent Camping is the only campground with showers and was featured on MSNBC as "one of the 10 favorite places to woo in the United States."~ More on this subject...

Camping on Orcas Island
Orcas Island is known as the jewel of the San Juan Islands and has several places to camp that should make your "Top 10 places I have ever camped in my life" list. Explore the old-growth forests of Moran State Park, cliff jump into Cascade Lake, observe the marine life, and photograph the passing ferries from your picturesque campsite on Orcas Island.~ More on this subject...

I am looking for a place to go camping on the San Juan Islands. We are not really into the traditional campgrounds, like the State Parks and such. We go hiking and backpacking and are looking for something of that nature to do. Any suggestions? We do alot of hiking in the Olympic Forest and Parks, cross country backpacking, to give an example of the type of camping we do.
You should check out Jan Juan Country Park, Snug Harbor Resort, Lakedale Camp Ground, and Moran State Park.
Moran State Park is amazing and will have the best options for hiking & swimming.
San Juan Island is great for kayaking tours, bicycling and whale watching
